A first-timer sushi guide
Trying sushi for the first time in Stuart, FL? You do not have to start with raw fish. At Mai Thai Sushi & Ramen, plenty of rolls are cooked, mild and easy to love. Here is a simple path from first bite to sushi fan.
Step 1: Start with cooked rolls
- California Roll ($8.95): krabstick, cucumber, avocado and masago. The classic starter roll.
- Shrimp Tempura Roll ($13.95): crispy shrimp tempura with avocado, asparagus, masago and eel sauce.
- Volcano ($13.95): a California roll topped with baked conch, octopus and crabstick in a creamy sauce, served warm.
- Vegetable Roll ($7.95): fresh vegetables only.
Step 2: Try a mild fish roll
- JB Roll ($9.95): salmon, cream cheese and scallions. Creamy and mild.
- Rainbow Roll ($13.95): a California roll topped with assorted fish, a good way to taste several kinds at once.
Step 3: Add a little spice
Ready for more? The Spicy Tuna Roll ($9.95) and Spicy Crunchy Salmon Roll ($13.95) add spicy mayo and crunchy tempura flakes.
Easy sushi tips
- Dip the fish side, not the rice, lightly in soy sauce.
- Eat ginger between rolls to reset your taste buds.
- Not sure? Order a Sushi Appetizer (6 pieces of the chef's selection) to sample.
